Breed Information
The Bedlington Terrier is an exuberant breed full of life. They are very intelligent, and make great family pets as well as magnificent show dogs. The Bedlington Terrier originated in the United Kingdom and were introduced to the United States in the early part of the nineteenth century.

BedlingtonTerriers do not excessively shed, but they should be brushed on a regular basis to help keep the coat clean and odor-free.

The BedlingtonTerrier is a very outgoing and active dog and often very much full of themselves. Although they are lap sized, in their hearts they are much larger. They are friendly and outgoing with most people, but can be very protective of their family. They are generally friendly and curious and tend to get into things. Like a bright child they are great fun. The Bedlington needs to be part of the family. They want to be with you wherever you are, whatever you are doing.

Bedlingtons like most terriers, require enough room to exercise and play daily. Many live to be 15 years old or more. They are generally very hearty . They are strong and seldom get sick if properly protected from contagious disease by regular vaccination and sensible feeding and care. They are non shedding with proper grooming.

They are happy-go-lucky dogs. Even though they are friendly and generally good-natured, these spunky dogs will stand their ground and guard their territory. Bedlington Terriers will often challenge a dog much larger than themselves.

How it all began

As young boy my mother raised Cocker spaniels. We would attend the shows every weekend and we would see the playful little lamb looking dogs in the ring next to us. Between matches we had the opportunity to get to know some of their owners/handlers and many of the dogs. That's when I feel in love with the breed. The Bedlington breed has the perfect balance of spunk and manners. They are so intelligent that you sometimes forget that they are not human. Their loving nature and clownish attitude was all it would take. In 1968 we purchase our first male from a breeder in California and he quickly finished his championship. That is how my love for this unique breed all got started.
